Precision measurement of moving parts (Dynamic Measurement) is a major strength of the Orbit® Digital Measurement Network and Solartron sensors and transducers, including fully synchronised data collection.
Dynamic flatness measurement
Measurement of flatness fo surface need to take precise readings for the smallest degree of change. The Orbit® 3 Network is able to take synchronised readings of several digital probes.
Paper and metals roller measurement
Ensuring the maintenance of rolling machines in paper and metals industries is paramount to ensuring the ouput material is of the correct standard. The Orbit® 3 measurement system supplies the roll grinder operator the data needed.
Plastic bag quality control.
The position and measurements of a zipper on a plastic bag needs to be taken in-process as the material is dispensed from a roll, prior to the cutting and heat sealing process. Measurements needed are height of the zipper whilst zipped and the gripper.

Measuring moving materials requires careful consideration to choose the correct sensor type
Conducting test and measurement of material using sensors and transducers, without stopping the production line, has long been recognised as a cost-effective measurement solution within a range of industries. However the linear measurement process can prove tricky.
The precision measurement specialties of Solartron's inductive sensors and non contact measurement sensor can determine both the thickness and the surface finish easily and accurately, removing the need to halt production, which will in turn, save on time and cost.
