Accurate measurements, even when taken well, can be recorded inaccurately if done so by hand. Applications which automate this process can help to eliminate human error.
Many customers are still using vernier callipers for measuring a series of parts and handwriting values down into a table. This method is very time-consuming and errors are likely in transmission.
By using a special holder, it is possible to replace the calliper with a Digital Probe. The standard DP range of Digital Spring Push Probes has justifiably become the work horse of the gauging industry. Very high resolution, excellent linearity and high data speed come as standard. Long life precision bearings, and an IP65 rating ensure that probes maintain their performance for millions of cycles.
This construction combined with an SI100 enables the measurement station to supply the values with a push-button to a PC via RS232 and write it down directly into the table.
This enables the whole application to supply the values much faster into the table, preventing transmission-errors and enabling an easy solution to store and print the saved data.
For larger applications it is possible to use several probes in parallel for different measurements, or use one probe and switch between different presets.
Combining multiple sensors using the Orbit Digital Measurement network is easy and data can be read using a Solartron readout or the Gauge Computer Software making system integration simple.
